APRIL HAYES M.S. CCC-SLP
Co-founder, Speech Language Pathologist
Hello! I’m April Hayes. I am a Speech-Language Pathologist, a mother of two and a co-founder at The Reading Company. I completed my undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders and graduate degree in Speech Language Pathology at Western Kentucky University. I’m licensed in the state of Kentucky and hold my Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. I have worked as a speech language pathologist in the school system, Kentucky's birth-3 early intervention program and in private practice.
I have received training in the Barton Reading and Spelling system, the Orton Gillingham approach and significant training in diagnosis and treatment of speech sound disorders including Childhood Apraxia of speech. I firmly believe in the importance of being a lifetime learner and I am an ASHA ACE award recipient. My special interests are in the diagnosis and treatment of speech sound production and motor speech disorders, early language development, language disorders and language processing differences.
I am passionate about parent involvement in treatment and believe the magic happens when you can elicit carryover of those targeted skills into life outside of the therapy room. When I’m not working I enjoy spending time camping and traveling with my family.
